If a child is born on an airplane, what's his place of birth and citizenship?

My dad thinks this site is the coolest thing since his second daughter was born: www.howstuffworks.com. It has the answer to that question and pretty much everything else you can think of. Dad was right. It is pretty cool.

he's stuck with me By kristys on 9/25/2006 12:09 PM

Yesterday we paid our first (non-refundable) deposit for the wedding. So I guess Jason's stuck with me now. I did call him right before I went to visit with the photographer to give him one last chance to back out. He didn't take it. Awww, what a nice guy.

you know you're getting old when.... By kristys on 9/20/2006 4:00 PM
My blog

So yesterday I was sitting at work just daydreaming about some wedding stuff. I was calculating how old we will both be when we do get married. I had Jason figured out right away because I have been telling him that he's almost 32 for about 6 months now. When it came to me, though, I panicked. I forgot how old I am! I tried to calm down and do the logical thing- figure out the math. So I'm sitting there thinking I was born in 80 and it's 2006 now. According to that I would be 26. But then I was absolutely sure that had turned 26 last year. My next thought was "I'm 27!?" I knew there was no way I was that old, but like I said, I could've sworn that I turned 26 last year. In the midst of my panic at possibly being 27 (27!) I decided I needed a definitive answer and I knew that wasn't coming from me. So, I called Michelle and asked her how old we are. She, after giggling at my expense, told me that we're 26. Whew! Relief. I knew I couldn't be 27! Twenty-seven is old!

Speaking of old, Jason's coming to visit us today....

:)

gettin married By kristys on 9/19/2006 10:26 AM

we're happy that we're engaged yes, we got engaged. This is our official engagement pic taken shortly after it happened. And even though it has taken me like a week and a half to post anything about it I am very excited. We have decided on a date- it will be Friday July 6th at Christ the King church (yes, we are having the full catholic ceremony- thank Jason for that one. I wanted to have it outside) and then the Ramkota. So now the planning has begun. Luckily Michelle is getting married less than a month before us so I plan on stealing as much from her after she's done with it as possible as far as decorations and whatnot.

So mark the date on your calendar! July 6th!

Oh, and I've decided on what our first song will be as husband & wife. Sexyback by JT.

tandra & jon.jpg Big fat congratulations to Tandra & Jon who got engaged on Sunday! And Jon gets big points for the proposal. They were golfing and he put the ring in the hole so when she went to putt out she saw the ring... and I guess the rest is history. So there we go, another wedding next summer sometime. I am very happy for them.

big wedding weekend By kristys on 8/28/2006 10:32 PM

me, Sara, Tandra, and Sarah

Sara & Brendan finally got married on Saturday. So big congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Becher. I had an absolute blast and I think I even remember most of it. There might be a small portion of the evening around dinner time that is slightly blurry. Yes, right around speech time... Bet mine was spectacular. But anyway, Sara looked gorgeous, the whole thing went really well, and it all went by so fast even though we started early and didn't quit until they turned on the lights. I'm pretty sure I forced everyone who was there out onto the dance floor. I'm sure they appreciated that, but I had a great time. This is the one of the few pictures that we took with my camera (yes, we're in the heart-shaped bathtub in their honeymoon suite) so when I get more I'll try to post a few of those. Jon has some on flickr, click here to check those out.

wake up By kristys on 8/17/2006 12:15 PM
My blog

I'm sorry, here comes a rant so if you need to just click on little Mr. X in the upper right, but I just have to comment on something in light of the recent news headlines. Someone needs to take a long hard look at both the prevalence of repeat sex offenders vs single incident offenders and the correlation between sex offenses and other crimes including murder. Check out the AG's sex offender website. These people don't just accidentally commit a single sexual assault and subsequently transform into model citizens who you would just love having live next door. I don't understand why something hasn't been done about this. These people need to experience some more severe repercussions. I think there should be two options for punishment. Castration or lobotomy. I'm completely serious. Read about some their offenses on the website and I guarantee you'll agree especially if you consider that their next victim could be your child, sister, niece, etc. The victims are permanently affected by something like that. The offenders should be too.

Just for a little perspective- there are 73 offenders within a 5 mile radius of our house here in Bismarck. 73.

moving is swell By kristys on 8/15/2006 9:59 AM

So we're supposed to be moving in about 4 days. You'd think we'd have all of our stuff packed and ready to go. Well if you thought that you'd be wrong. We finally got a few things ready that Jason took to Nap yesterday, but other than that... NOTHING. And this isn't because we haven't had time. Well, one of us hasn't had time. The other one has been done working for awhile now and even before he was done working he took some time off to get things ready. And you know what I saw every time I came home after one of his days off? A certain someone sitting on the couch, watching tv and playing on his computer. No boxes packed, no cleaning done and some of his hair sticking up on the back of his head- almost as if he had been napping... hmm.... And he wonders why I tell him what to do all the time. If I don't nothing gets done! Don't get me wrong, I won some procrastination awards in college, but there's a time and a place for that. That time is in a couple of weeks and the place is Napoleon. NOT NOW.  There is something that would allow me to overlook this, however. My birthday is in about a month and a good present would make me forget all about this.... Like a kayak!

Yes I realize I haven't posted anything in a long time. You want to know why? I have absolutely nothing interesting to say. There's all kinds of big stuff going on, but I don't have squat to say about it right now. I need to cross a few hurdles before I can get too excited about any of it. Except being an aunt, I'm still excited about that.

poor Romey By kristys on 6/14/2006 3:59 PM
My blog
Romey Yesterday was kind of a stinky day at our house. Romey and I went for a run around Tom O after work. Our actual run was pretty uneventful, but when we were done running and started our walk/cooldown we were walking by a lady with 2 dogs and one of them snapped at Romey. I didn't think anything of it because I figured the other dog didn't make contact and that wasn't the first time that sort of thing had ever happened. So we got home and I was letting him drink some water out of the hose. When he turned around I saw him from the side and I saw that the other dog must have, in fact, made contact and gave Romey a little owie. Well, we decided that we would try to clean his boo-boo, but first I wanted to get a better look at it so I got a flashlight to check it out closer. When I did that I saw that it wasn't just a little owie, it was a HOLE. He has a HOLE IN HIS SIDE. That freaked me out a bit, I won't lie. So I took him to the vet this morning. They can't stitch it up because apparently dog bites are very dirty and would get infected so now he just has to walk around with a hole in his side. My poor baby.
