I finally made a trip back to the Minneapolis area after not having been there since I moved back to North Dakota almost 2 years ago. It was a little weird to be back, but nice. Michelle and I had a ton of fun at Valleyfair and of course we did a lot of the requisite shopping. I got a chance to hang out with some friends and family, and got to visit with Martha, my golf coach from Mac- which was very nice. I bought way too much stuff, but it was fun. Jason and I will be heading out that way again over Labor Day so I can play in Martha's alumni golf tournament. I am definitely looking forward to that- it should be a lot of fun getting to see everyone from my college golf days.
This weekend Jason and I are going camping at Beaver Lake near Napoleon. It will be my first time at BL. Of course, I do have an ulterior motive for going down there- it's close to his grandma's house... and where there's Grandma Horner there's kuchen... so I will try to fulfill my duty as a good german and eat a lot of it... :)

My poor Kosmo had a little run-in with a porcupine the other day. We had to take him to the vet so they could sedate him and pull the quills out. I felt awfully sorry for him. He was back to crazy Kosmo form in no time, though.

Sara's getting married! |

I know it's a little late, but I just wanted to say congratulations again to Sara and Brenden- who are getting married next August! It always makes me feel old when friends of mine get married, but we couldn't have found a better guy for Sara. I can't wait for the wedding, it should be a great time and now she'll finally have the 16 acres she needs to have a pet cow.... But that doesn't mean the "I gotta go home and milk the cows" excuse will work after you're married, Sara!

The last week or so has been pretty eventful with the 4th of July festivities and whatnot. Everything was pretty great. We had Dave and Deann's wedding dance last Saturday night which was a lot of fun. My sister and her boyfriend came home for the 4th (which just happens to be her birthday, which she likes to remind everyone about... a lot) so we got to spend some time with "the responsible one" and the other Sam (sam samich version II). I always have a great time at Johnny Holm and this year was no exception, then I figured sleeping in was a better use of my time than the parade so we kinda skipped that. Then last weekend Jason, Kosmo, and I took the Layton up to Nelson Lake and had a great time in the 95+ degree weather. I don't care what Jason says, I don't think the Layton needs air conditioning. Got to do a little tubing, kneeboarding, ride waverunners, and still had time to sit around and read. My idea of the perfect weekend. Good times. I'm hoping for a repeat soon. New pics are posted of all the fun.

Our little trip to Minnesota last weekend was fabulous. I introduced Jason to real golf, so we basically just played golf, played golf, played golf, went boating on Gull Lake, and played more golf. It was a ton of fun and the hospitality was great! :) I'm pretty sure I'll be able to talk Jason into going back sometime to visit (if he gets to take naps next time), but my attempts at talking him into moving there haven't been as fruitful. I'll have to keep working on him.
He has the pictures on his website, so there's no point in me putting them up too. Check them out here.

Jason and I are heading out to northern MN this weekend to visit uncle Dan, Lori, Jesse, and Tori. Oh, and to play a little golf :) It will be Jason's first time out there. I'll probably have to leave him there because he won't want to come back to Prairie West. He'll be fine, I'll just remember to give him a case of bug spray.
I'm looking forward to the trip, especially since I started hitting the ball straight again! YAY! Oh, and the Callaway guy was out at the course yesterday for a demo day. I was tossing around the idea of new irons before, but now I am officially sold on a set of Pro Series X-18s. See ya later Pro Combos. We had a lot of good times together, but it's time to move on.

Another campout come and gone. Needless to say I had a lot of fun this weekend. Here are a few of the highlights:
1. Seeing my cousin and her two very cute kids, whom I don't see nearly enough (yes, I know, if I would come visit, I wouldn't have that problem).
2. Having the pleasure of listening to a polka band while Jason made up his own lyrics, mostly consisting of Snoop and 50 Cent (he dropped it like it’s hot).
3. Getting my butt kicked in the water by about 6 of my little cousins, then being rescued by my knight in shining yellow swim trunks.
4. The Layton.

I finally bought a bike the other day after thinking about getting one for years. And, of course it didn't take me long to christen it with a little road rash. After having it all of like 3 days I took a nice tumble over the handlebars yesterday. Oops. Didn't hurt too bad, though- just a few scrapes and bruises, poor baby. And I suffered a few too... :) After that little incident I decided that it might be a good idea to wait until my helmet comes in to ride again... a broken head isn't any fun.
