Guess what today is! By kristys on 3/22/2007 8:14 AM

Jackson, Jenny, Mike, and Sam are finally coming home today! We've been waiting a long time to see them. Jackson is especially excited to see me. We are going to take this opportunity to introduce Jackson to bosca. When he realizes that frosting belongs on everything- then he will become a true Schaaf.

All done. By kristys on 3/8/2007 3:40 PM

Well, tonight is it- last game of the season. The Napoleon boys made it to Regionals, won their first game of the tournament, but lost their second so they will play for third place tonight and then that's it.

I know I might not be the most objective person since I'm a huge fan of Jason but I have to say, he did an amazing job with that team this year and I had a great time watching them. It is a completely different team than it was back in December. And, as always, the end of the season is kind of a relief but I definitely could have waited for it to be done until next weekend- after State.

They graduate four guys so next year will be a completely different story. As a senior gift for the four who are graduating, we made each of them a collage. You can check those out at www.gametimephotographs.com.

Now that he'll be done with basketball and no longer has a good excuse, Jason can start helping with.... wedding planning!!

more basketball By kristys on 3/5/2007 5:18 PM

This weekend was WDA basketball. You know what that means? I saw 10 or so games in 3 days. I'm not complaining, though. I enjoyed it. I didn't so much enjoy the results of the Mandan qualifying game, but the rest was good stuff. And guess what today is. Yes, more basketball. Regionals in Jamestown for the Napoleon boys.

still won't do it. By kristys on 2/8/2007 3:23 PM

I haven't given in completely yet. Jason's request for me to "watch college hoops on ESPN" still hasn't happened. Last night he watched the Duke/North Carolina game and wanted me to watch it with him. I played Guitar Hero instead. I haven't held my ground as much as I had hoped, though. I have been reading basketball message boards. I am so disappointed in myself. I used to read the Wizards message board, which makes a little more sense, but now I am reading about kids from places like Wells County and Steele and Powers Lake for goodness sake! As a matter of fact I just read something on one of the message boards a couple minutes ago and then promptly called Jason (and woke him up- he's at home sick today) and asked him why he didn't tell me that one of the kids we've watched a couple of times has signed with Mary. Enough! To make up for it the only site I'm going to only look at for the rest of the day is weddings.com.

sorry By kristys on 2/5/2007 11:37 AM

I would like to extend an apology to anyone who was offended by my Napoleon stories. While the stories were true, I was joking; it was all in fun on my part. I don't by any means think everyone in the town is stupid. And I can understand why someone could take offense to what I wrote. I am from Mandan, trust me, I hear that kind of stuff all the time. Speaking of which, I just noticed that my sweater is on backwards.

Oh, and two things just for future reference: 1: I am aware that my sense of humor is at times a little odd. If you don't think something is funny when I do, that's fine with me. I'm used to that too. And if you can't figure out if I am kidding or not, assume that I am. Because more than likely that is the case. And 2: I am opinionated. You may not agree with everything I have to say, but it's okay to be wrong sometimes.... ;)

Here is my response to Jason's recent post about me and basketball. It's a defense mechanism. If I don't have anything to say about basketball I get ignored. Well, I get ignored by Jason regardless, but at least other people talk to me. Besides, even if I wanted to know absolutely nothing about basketball it would be impossible due to the sheer volume of it that I am subjected to. Just ask me about the day of four games a couple of weeks ago.

Whatever, though. I admit it, I like basketball. If he has to coach something I'm glad that's it. Football is during golf season, hockey is too cold, baseball is too boring, wrestling is too dangerous (with the herpes and all). And I will watch players like Justin Belohlavek and Tate Kick all day long (okay, confession: one big reason I like to watch Tate Kick is because I like his name and it makes me giggle when his teammates call him Tater. Oh yeah, and he's good). Class B is proving to not be my favorite. Everyone says it's so great and so intense, but those must be the people who don't watch any class A. Not that I don't like watching Nap-town and all that, but I have already told him that I would prefer it if he'd coach at a class A school.

Oh, and about the watching college basketball on ESPN. I don't know when that would even happen. I hardly get to watch What Not to Wear anymore let alone anything else because I'm always at stupid basketball games. Speaking of which... since Jason's staying in Napoleon I might go watch the Mandan/Century boys game tonight. Just cause it's my alma mater, not because I like basketball.

blah blah blah By kristys on 1/12/2007 5:23 PM
My blog

I'm sorry, I still have been slacking on the updates. But, I did update the books I'm reading list, so big points for me. Other than the normal stuff like work and blah blah blah I have been working on getting my stuff together for my businesses. The website has been up for one of them for awhile now: www.gametimephotographs.com. And the other site is completely done being designed (my part of the process) but has not been put into commission (Jason's part). Hopefully he has time to do that soon. HINT HINT. So, I have been doing some sports photography for the last few months and now will be starting to do portrait photography as well. If you know anyone who needs photos taken... SEND THEM TO ME! So there you go, between driving back and forth to Napoleon and the photography stuff, that's about all of my time. That's why I'm a big loser and don't do much else.

Oh, and my mom, dad, and little sis are out visiting my nephew (and Jenny and Sam too I guess) this weekend and I don't get to go :( Jackson misses me, whom he has voted his favorite auntie by a landslide.

I have taken enough crap for not posting anything so here you go.... I am and have been an aunt for approximately 6 weeks now. Yes, that is how long it has taken me to post anything about it. But in no way does that correlate with the level of excitement about that fact. Jackson is absolutely perfect. Jen, Sam, and Jackson will all be back here for awhile over Christmas so I am very much looking forward to that.

We have begun basketball season which is always spectacular. It actually hasn't been too bad so far, but when basketball got in cahoots with winter and didn't let Jason come up here for 3 days straight I wasn't a big fan of that. We'll see how the rest of the season treats us. First game is tomorrow night in Nap.

As far as my professional life- the project that I am currently working on is perfecting the method of applying icing to my toaster strudels. It is absolutely imperative that the amount of icing is even throughout the strudel and no corners are left dry and icing-less. Some days my attempts are more successful than others and right now the variable that is being tested is the size of the opening in the little icing packet. A smaller opening seems to produce the best and most even results.

My sister went into the hospital late yesterday morning so Jackson's on his way!!!! He's being very slow about it but it should be any time now.

Thank goodness for Jen. We went out to visit her last week and she looked very uncomfortable. But on the plus side, at least we got to see her one more time before she has him- just to see exactly how big she actually was. So now we're just doing some waiting and some seeing.

Uncle Dan & newly Aunted Lauri's wedding was on Saturday in Brainerd/Pequot. That was a good time. I was the official candle-lighter and got to direct traffic in the church so that was fun and I only messed up on the candle lighting a couple of times. I also decided that Jason has to call her Auntie Lauri even though she's younger than he is. The hotel that we stayed at was lots of fun. Not only do they have a waterpark inside, but you get to pick your own theme for the slide! You can choose to have sharks jump out at you, tigers growling, clowns laugh, all that fun stuff.

Okay, now I'm going to go back to staring at the phone waiting for the big news....

lotsa stuff going on By kristys on 10/16/2006 12:02 PM
My blog

This weekend was a busy one. We went wedding dress shopping on Saturday, which was lots of fun except that one of my bridesmaids who shall remain nameless took every opportunity she could find to very loudly assert her opinion, but of course only when it was contrary to mine. She has not yet figured out that this is my wedding and the choice of colors is mine, not hers (Jason has a bit of a say too, I guess) and the more she complained about a particular color the more I wanted to choose that color for their dresses.

Then yesterday we went to Jamestown for the baptism of Brayden Motter. They chose us to be his sponsors which was very nice of them. Brayden was absolutely perfect through the whole thing. What kind of baby doesn't scream when a strange guy pours water on his head?? He is the only one I think I've seen.

And on a sidenote... I can't quite figure out presbyterianism. This was only the second time I've been to a presbyterian church- the first was when Brayden's big brother Logan was baptised. Both times I left feeling a little confused... like they forgot to teach me anything. I'm not against this religion by any means because as a Catholic I realize that I can't cast stones, but I just can't figure it out.
