"somewhat scary" he says. PSHAH! Putting up the Christmas lights scared the crap out of me! And I am not one to be scared easily by those kinds of things. Sitting up on that roof was way worse than waiting to drop from the top of the Power Tower at Valleyfair. At least then I was strapped in. It took all I had not to just turn back around, make my way down the ladder, and go back inside and put lights up around the window- from the inside of our nice safe, flat living room. But I am such a nice girlfriend, I knew there was no way I'd get Jason up there to do it, plus I thought it would be nice for him to come back from his long trip to WY and see the house all Christmasy. As soon as started my trek toward the edge of the house, though, all I could think of was plummeting the 60 feet to my untimely death (60, 25, whatever. It was high.) I know I now have plenty of newfound respect for those other fools who climbed around on their own really steep, really high roofs just so that their houses could look pretty. I just have one thing to say about that whole experience: those lights are staying up there until they disintegrate.
But anyway. I somehow managed to have a good time this weekend even though Jason was out of town. In addition to escaping death, I went to the Wizards games both nights and might have had a Bud Light or two. My substitute date did a great job, I think he might have to give Jason some pointers. I don't remember having an empty beer all night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FAVORITE BOYFRIEND SO FAR!
It's Jason's birthday today. It would take forever to list all the ways in which he is so great, so that will have to be postponed to a later date when I have more time. I might even post some very flattering pics but for right now I just want to make sure to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Just kidding about the so far part. He's MY FAVORITE PERSON EVER! :)

Well, it's been awhile. Things have been absolutely insane. We are finally catching a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, though. The main floor of the house is getting close to being done. Oh, and by the way, I have decided that it will officially be called KRISTY'S HOUSE from this point on due to the extensive amount of time and sweat I have put in while Jason has been watching tv and playing games (it's technically watching basketball film and coaching/doing workouts at Tribes, but it all equates to more work for yours truly so I will call it whatever I want. So there.)
On a very related note, I am in the market for a new boyfriend. Well, maybe more like a supplemental boyfriend since we have reached the Oct 1st mark and you know what that means. Basketball season. Eww. Just kidding, I like basketball. Until about December.
Other news: my cousin Andi got married last weekend. We had a great time at the wedding. And I had a really great time at her bachelorette party... from what I hear anyway. She was the first of the Schaaf kids to get married so we thought we'd celebrate properly. And we sure did. Those pics will get posted some day.

FYI- tomorrow is my birthday! And just in case anyone would like to buy me presents here's some helpful info: I like shiny things. I could also use some new paintbrushes to use in my new PAINTING STUDIO at our NEW HOUSE! We get to start moving in in about a week and a half so that's pretty exciting. Right now we're working on picking out the paint colors. Jason, of course, doesn't trust me to pick them out by myself so he has to have an interior designer friend come over and give us ideas (mostly just to approve of the ideas I already have). Apparently he doesn't think that I've grown out of the painting-everything-as-brightly-and-in-as-many-colors-as-possible phase of my youth.
In other news, we were in Mpls this weekend and had lots of fun. Went to a Twins game, played in the alumni golf tournament and hung out with some of my old golf friends, went to IKEA and bought all kinds of stuff for the new house which I CAN'T WAIT to put up. One thing we didn't get to do which I am very sorry about is visit Shelly and Caleb and see their new house. I'm sorry :( Next time, I promise. I'll be down again in a month!

SIMPLE SIMON met a Pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the Pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the Pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you dumb #$%!"
GEORGIE PORGY Pudding and Pie, Kissed the girls and made them cry. And when the boys came out to play, He kissed them too 'cause he was gay.

As is widely known across the globe, Jason has recently been named the head men's basketball coach at United Tribes. This morning, after Jason mentioned it last night, I ventured over to the Tribes website to check out the blurb about him and was delighted to find this gem of a pic. So of course, being the nice girlfriend that I am, I feel the need to post it for everyone to see before he makes them change it to a more flattering one. So here you go, enjoy. And yes, I am aware that what goes around comes around, but I just couldn't pass it up.

Interesting articles in the St. Paul Pioneer Press yesterday- one a lovely story about my 22-year-LPGA-tour-veteran-major-winning-college-golf-coach-birthday-buddy Martha :) and the other about some Mac golfers getting a close up look at the LPGA tour. That second article reminded me of working at the Solheim Cup a couple years ago, doing scoring. One of the many highlights: I'm walking up to a tee box, I glance over my left shoulder and standing about a foot and a half away from me is Annika Sorenstam, arguably the greatest female golfer of all time (I was in her group that day, so I got to watch her up-close for hours). Of course, getting introduced to Kathy Whitworth, a golf legend with more career titles than any other male or female golfer ever (one of the main reasons Annika has to be arguably the greatest golfer and not the greatest golfer), ranks pretty high on my list of coolest experiences ever also. That week, though, was full of that kind of stuff, all thanks to Martha.

I finally made a trip back to the Minneapolis area after not having been there since I moved back to North Dakota almost 2 years ago. It was a little weird to be back, but nice. Michelle and I had a ton of fun at Valleyfair and of course we did a lot of the requisite shopping. I got a chance to hang out with some friends and family, and got to visit with Martha, my golf coach from Mac- which was very nice. I bought way too much stuff, but it was fun. Jason and I will be heading out that way again over Labor Day so I can play in Martha's alumni golf tournament. I am definitely looking forward to that- it should be a lot of fun getting to see everyone from my college golf days.
This weekend Jason and I are going camping at Beaver Lake near Napoleon. It will be my first time at BL. Of course, I do have an ulterior motive for going down there- it's close to his grandma's house... and where there's Grandma Horner there's kuchen... so I will try to fulfill my duty as a good german and eat a lot of it... :)
