happy tember tenth!!! By kristys on 9/9/2005 9:40 AM
My blog

FYI- tomorrow is my birthday! And just in case anyone would like to buy me presents here's some helpful info: I like shiny things. I could also use some new paintbrushes to use in my new PAINTING STUDIO at our NEW HOUSE! We get to start moving in in about a week and a half so that's pretty exciting. Right now we're working on picking out the paint colors. Jason, of course, doesn't trust me to pick them out by myself so he has to have an interior designer friend come over and give us ideas (mostly just to approve of the ideas I already have). Apparently he doesn't think that I've grown out of the painting-everything-as-brightly-and-in-as-many-colors-as-possible phase of my youth.

In other news, we were in Mpls this weekend and had lots of fun. Went to a Twins game, played in the alumni golf tournament and hung out with some of my old golf friends, went to IKEA and bought all kinds of stuff for the new house which I CAN'T WAIT to put up. One thing we didn't get to do which I am very sorry about is visit Shelly and Caleb and see their new house. I'm sorry       :( Next time, I promise. I'll be down again in a month!

SIMPLE SIMON met a Pie man going to the fair.
Said Simple Simon to the Pie man,
"What have you got there?"
Said the Pie man unto Simon,
"Pies, you dumb #$%!"

Kissed the girls and made them cry.
And when the boys came out to play,
He kissed them too 'cause he was gay.

As is widely known across the globe, Jason has recently been named the head men's basketball coach at United Tribes. This morning, after Jason mentioned it last night, I ventured over to the Tribes website to check out the blurb about him and was delighted to find this gem of a pic. So of course, being the nice girlfriend that I am, I feel the need to post it for everyone to see before he makes them change it to a more flattering one. So here you go, enjoy. And yes, I am aware that what goes around comes around, but I just couldn't pass it up.

Pioneer Press articles By kristys on 8/1/2005 7:11 AM

macalesterlogo.jpgInteresting articles in the St. Paul Pioneer Press yesterday- one a lovely story about my 22-year-LPGA-tour-veteran-major-winning-college-golf-coach-birthday-buddy Martha :) and the other about some Mac golfers getting a close up look at the LPGA tour. That second article reminded me of working at the Solheim Cup a couple years ago, doing scoring. One of the many highlights: I'm walking up to a tee box, I glance over my left shoulder and standing about a foot and a half away from me is Annika Sorenstam, arguably the greatest female golfer of all time (I was in her group that day, so I got to watch her up-close for hours). Of course, getting introduced to Kathy Whitworth, a golf legend with more career titles than any other male or female golfer ever (one of the main reasons Annika has to be arguably the greatest golfer and not the greatest golfer), ranks pretty high on my list of coolest experiences ever also. That week, though, was full of that kind of stuff, all thanks to Martha.

kieran likes to pick his nose

I finally made a trip back to the Minneapolis area after not having been there since I moved back to North Dakota almost 2 years ago. It was a little weird to be back, but nice. Michelle and I had a ton of fun at Valleyfair and of course we did a lot of the requisite shopping. I got a chance to hang out with some friends and family, and got to visit with Martha, my golf coach from Mac- which was very nice. I bought way too much stuff, but it was fun. Jason and I will be heading out that way again over Labor Day so I can play in Martha's alumni golf tournament. I am definitely looking forward to that- it should be a lot of fun getting to see everyone from my college golf days.

This weekend Jason and I are going camping at Beaver Lake near Napoleon. It will be my first time at BL. Of course, I do have an ulterior motive for going down there- it's close to his grandma's house... and where there's Grandma Horner there's kuchen... so I will try to fulfill my duty as a good german and eat a lot of it... :)

don't let your dog play with porcupines By kristys on 7/28/2005 11:14 AM

poor kosmo 1 poor kosmo 2

My poor Kosmo had a little run-in with a porcupine the other day. We had to take him to the vet so they could sedate him and pull the quills out. I felt awfully sorry for him. He was back to crazy Kosmo form in no time, though.

Sara's getting married! By kristys on 7/28/2005 10:03 AM

Sara and Brenden the biker

I know it's a little late, but I just wanted to say congratulations again to Sara and Brenden- who are getting married next August! It always makes me feel old when friends of mine get married, but we couldn't have found a better guy for Sara. I can't wait for the wedding, it should be a great time and now she'll finally have the 16 acres she needs to have a pet cow.... But that doesn't mean the "I gotta go home and milk the cows" excuse will work after you're married, Sara!

recent fun By kristys on 7/13/2005 12:18 PM

IMG_2005.JPGThe last week or so has been pretty eventful with the 4th of July festivities and whatnot. Everything was pretty great. We had Dave and Deann's wedding dance last Saturday night which was a lot of fun. My sister and her boyfriend came home for the 4th (which just happens to be her birthday, which she likes to remind everyone about... a lot) so we got to spend some time with "the responsible one" and the other Sam (sam samich version II). I always have a great time at Johnny Holm and this year was no exception, then I figured sleeping in was a better use of my time than the parade so we kinda skipped that. Then last weekend Jason, Kosmo, and I took the Layton up to Nelson Lake and had a great time in the 95+ degree weather. I don't care what Jason says, I don't think the Layton needs air conditioning. Got to do a little tubing, kneeboarding, ride waverunners, and still had time to sit around and read. My idea of the perfect weekend. Good times. I'm hoping for a repeat soon. New pics are posted of all the fun.

I found a replacement for Jason. The Plush Boyfriend Arm Pillow. At least this guy wouldn't complain about his arm falling asleep....

trip to Minnesota By kristys on 6/29/2005 6:26 AM
My blog

Our little trip to Minnesota last weekend was fabulous. I introduced Jason to real golf, so we basically just played golf, played golf, played golf, went boating on Gull Lake, and played more golf. It was a ton of fun and the hospitality was great! :) I'm pretty sure I'll be able to talk Jason into going back sometime to visit (if he gets to take naps next time), but my attempts at talking him into moving there haven't been as fruitful. I'll have to keep working on him.

He has the pictures on his website, so there's no point in me putting them up too. Check them out here.
